of Friuli Venezia Giulia Region
INNOWINE – AGROWINE
13-15 November 2013
WP 1Project Management
WP 2Communication and Dissemination
Over the last few decades, in all EU countries, where the wine-oenological sector is an important economical resource, some programs for the genetic and sanitary improvement of the cultivator, through clonal selection, have been implemented. The clonal selection is a practice, that currently is not in execution in the involved areas. The Applied Genomic Institute (IGA) will provide the knowledge and the instrumentations for the selection of the local, autochthonous species of vine through the instruments of the applied genomic.
The Faculty of Agriculture of Novi Sad will select one or more than one researchers, that will follow directly the research activities, which will envisage a three-months training at the IGA under the supervision of a tutor. The researchers will be trained about all the aspects of genomic related to the analyzed stumps.
Moreover, it's foreseen that the local administration will follow a training period to deal with the European project management and the available financial sources for the rural development.
The activity 3 will be structured into the following sub-activities:
3.1 Preparation of a MTA protocol (Material Transfer Agreement)
An agreement will be subscribed among the University of Novi Sad, the University of Udine and the IGA to guarantee the material transfer and exchange
3.2 Multiplication of the selections
In the contest of the programs for the genetic improvement of the species of wine, the multiplication of the selections by engraftation will be put in execution. One or more researchers of the Faculty of Agriculture of Novi Sad will be assigned to the technicians of IGA to learn these procedures. The staff of IGA will deal with the training in addition to the research activities.
3.3 Organization of an evaluation field
An evaluation field for the selection of vine will be organized by the the Faculty of Agriculture of Novi Sad. In addition to the agronomic evaluation, oenological estimation will be executed through micro-vinification tests for the evaluation of the organoleptic potentialities of these species.
3.4 Signature of protocols
Protocols for the molecular/agronomic/technologic evaluation of the vine will be defined. After the signature, some researchers of the University of Novi Sad will follow a training about the machineries for the genotyping and the second generation sequencing.
3.5 Monitoring of financial sources
During the implementation phase, the partnership will activate a monitoring of the European financial sources to support further research activities and the production of wine from autochthonous vines. The local administration will be made aware about the necessity to allocate funds in support of the research and the wine-producing sector. This sub-activity will involve also the local Croatian partners, considering its forthcoming adhesion to the EU. The partnership will deepen the topics of the financial means and of the program " European Agricultural Guarantee and Guidance Fund" (EAGGF). This instrument, established by the (CE) n. 1290/2005, aims to strengthen the EU policy for the rural development and facilitate its implementation.
The activity aims to the improvement of the instruments and machineries of the both university partner laboratories and to the strengthening of the services for the producers.
The Activity is structured into the following sub-activities:
4.1 Inventory of the existing equipment for the analysis
The staff responsible for the management of the two laboratories (Osijek and Novi Sad) will make an inventory of the existing equipment. This inventory will be analyzed by the technicians chosen by Informest to deal with this issue. Then, the equipment, necessary for the enhancement of the laboratories, will be identified, keeping in consideration the budget of the project and any possible contribution that could come form other activities (Action 3A, Transgrowth - Programme SEENET) and other funding from local institutions. The priority will be given to the instrumentations that will provide useful services for the producers.
4.2 Purchase of the equipment and training of the human resources
The Universities will consider the suggestion and, under the supervision of the Informest expert, the activity will continue with the purchase of the equipment and its installation. A training period is foreseen for the staff which will use the new machineries.
4.3 Promotion of the services of the laboratories available for the producers
The local producers will be informed about the new services through an awareness campaign and a conference on technic themes, like diseases, protection and improvement of the quality of the vine.
This activity aims to strengthen the collaboration in the scientific field among the University of Udine-DIAL and the Universities of Osijek-Baranja and Novi Sad, and to guarantee the inter-university international mobility of professors, researchers, students and technicians.
5.1 Visit and definition of a collaboration agreement
Some education-visits will be realized in order to analyze:
- Courses of study
- Possibility of inter-university mobility
- Scheduling and preparatory activities to foster the mobility
After this preliminary phase, the universities will elaborate a common studying planning and a collaboration agreement to foster the inter-university mobility.
5.2 Signing of the collaboration agreement
The universities will sign the collaboration agreement and will contract to acknowledge and implement all conditions.
5.3 Funding research
In order to guarantee the inter-university mobility, a funding research activity will be conducted both at a European level and at a national/local level.
